Sina Saxer is a distinguished Senior Researcher at the Institute of Chemistry and Bioanalytics at the University of Applied Science and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, where she also heads the nanoLab. With a profound expertise in surface chemistry across bulk or colloidal, soft, and hard materials, Sina's research focuses on characterising and consequently understanding chemical interactions at interfaces. Her academic journey began with an MSc in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Material Science. Following this, she further honed her skills through a Postdoctoral fellowship with the Maynard group at the University of Los Angeles. Sina then embarked on her professional career, taking on the role of Research Associate at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland. Sina's research focuses on exploring new modifications, interactions, and properties of immobilized single molecules or mixtures on surfaces. Her work extends to various applications, including the development of biosensors, intraoperative tumor visualization, implants, food additives and the study of complex mixtures in hydrogels. The aim is for a thorough understanding of the system to yield materials that are both efficient and sustainable. Notably, many of Sina's innovative research concepts and experiences find practical applications in industry projects, highlighting the tangible impact of her contributions to the field.
